Asco Motors recently handed over four brand new Yamaha Police Cruiser Motorcycles. The ceremony, held at Asco Motors Nabua showroom, was attended by Fiji’s Minister of Defence Ratu Epeli Ganilau, Acting Commissioner of Police Mr Joeli Baleilevuka and senior Fiji Police Force personnel.

The motorcycles are purpose built units made by Yamaha in Japan and are specifically designed for the unique needs of police and law enforcement agencies. They come standard with an electronic siren, loud speaker and microphone, plus either a red or blue flashing rotary patrol lamp and a convenient document box on the rear carrier for storage.

These new units will complement the existing fleet of Police Yamaha Motorcycles which are now 10 years old and still going strong.

Asco Motors CEO Ian McLean says, “This purchase is a credit to the Fiji Police and they recognise that to fight crime and maintain safe standards on the roads, Police must have the best available equipment. These beautiful Yamaha Police Motorcycles are the best motorcycles available and will play a key role in improving law enforcement in Fiji.”

As one of the additional services provided by Yamaha, representatives from the Yamaha Riding Academy will visit Fiji early 2011to train the Fiji Police in correct riding techniques.
