Toyota Technical skills and expertise goes on display again this Saturday
 
On Saturday 1st October, Asco Motors will once again host the annual National Skills Contest at Asco Motors Nabua complex. The National Skills Contest is the culmination of year long preparation in skills display and technical knowledge by Toyota Technicians, Panel Technicians, Service Advisors and Parts Staff.
 
Asco Motor’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Abdul Hafiz says of the contest, “the purpose of this contest is to showcase the skills and talents of our Toyota Service, Parts and Panel Staff presented in a structured form with winners rewarded in trophies and cash, with the year’s overall Technician winner earning a place in the Regional Toyota Technician Skills Competition that will be staged next year. And the regional winner gets to participate in Toyota Motor Corporation’s Assembly of Champions in Japan”.
 
There are four categories of the contest, these being Parts, Service, Technical and Body & Panel. Throughout the year, competitors go through a series of preliminary rounds of theory examination which is also a process of elimination as Asco Motors various branches around the country and the main winners of these preliminary rounds progress through to the main competition, the National Skills Contest. Additionally this year, we are also hosting participants from Vanuatu and Samoa .
 
Asco Motors is appreciative of the services of organizations and individuals, who are supporting this competition by way of providing independent judges and prizes.
 
Regional Learning & Development Manager Ms Ranju Kumar says, “the National Skills contest signifies the importance Asco Motors has placed on training and up skilling our people. The more trained they get, the better they are able to serve the most important person, our Toyota customer”.
 
The National Skills Contest is a global Toyota initiative and is staged in many Toyota dealerships around the world. Saturday 1st October’s programme should start at 0830hrs and run through till 1500hrs.
